This facility was designed to meet the needs of cancer patients in rural northwestern Illinois. The 10,000 square foot Community Cancer Center was developed as a joint venture between Freeport Regional Health Care Services and the University of Wisconsin-Madison Medical School.

Current state-of-the-art radiation therapy equipment includes a Varian Ximitron Simulator and a Varian Clinac 2100C, 10 MeV Linear Accelerator, shown below.

To ease patient anxieties, the interior and exterior of the building were designed to be like a “home away from home.” Pleasant lighting, warm colors, and traditional furnishings are used throughout to create a healing environment, as illustrated below by the Chemotherapy Room and the Waiting Room.
